The Challenge
Mountaineer Paddle rents paddle boards and kayaks to first-time and weekend paddlers along the Kanawha River. Most customers find the business after a quick Google search on their phone — often the same morning they're heading to the water. The site needed to do three things in seconds: make the business look real, show what it costs, and give people a frictionless way to book.
The Approach
- Mobile-first layout — the homepage is built around what someone sees on a phone screen at the riverbank, not a desktop preview.
- Prominent "Text to Book" CTA — matches how Carter already takes bookings, so the website fits the way the business actually runs.
- Dedicated pricing page — first-time renters trust transparency. Showing rates up front removes the "is this gonna be expensive?" friction.
- Service-area clarity — calling out Kanawha and Putnam Counties on the homepage signals "we come to you" and rules out wrong-fit leads.
- Calm, active aesthetic — large photography of the New River bridge area, beginner-friendly language, and plenty of white space so the site feels approachable rather than gear-shop technical.
The Result
The site shipped fast, loads quickly on cellular, and gives Mountaineer Paddle a credible web presence that matches the quality of the in-person experience. Carter can hand the link to anyone — potential customers, local partners, social followers — and trust that they'll get the right first impression.
“Dude! That is incredible!!! I love it!”
