ScamKit
A free, no-signup scam-checking platform built and launched as a self-initiated project. The kind of build that happens when there's no client brief — just a problem worth solving and full creative control.

The Challenge
Most "is this a scam?" sites are either ad-stuffed walls of text, require a paid subscription, or hide behind a login. The actual job — "I got this text, is it safe?" — should take about five seconds and zero accounts. ScamKit started as a question: what would a clean, free, no-signup scam-checking tool look like if someone built one without ads or upsells in the way?
The Approach
- Four focused tools, one clear front door — check a link, check a message, check a phone number, check an email. Each has its own page so the homepage doesn't have to do too much.
- Zero accounts, zero ads — nothing to sign up for, nothing to dismiss. The first interaction is the actual tool, which builds trust faster than any marketing copy could.
- Speed as a feature — the site is built to feel instant. Most checks return results in under five seconds, and that promise is stated up front so users know what to expect.
- Plain-English explanations — results don't just say "suspicious" or "safe." They explain why, in language a non-technical person can act on.
- Mobile-first end to end — scams arrive on phones (texts, DMs, suspicious links). The whole site is designed to be used from the same device the scam is sitting in.
The Result
ScamKit is live and free for anyone to use. Beyond the project itself, it doubles as proof of capability — this is what gets built when there's no client brief, no agency politics, and no budget cap. Clients hiring me for a small business site can look at ScamKit and see I'm comfortable shipping more than a homepage and a contact form.
